In the year 1987 H.H. Sakya Trizin, after being requested blessings to open a Sakya center, He predicted that in Spain there would be the largest Sakya center in Europe.. In 1990 Kempo Dorje Gyaltsen was the first Sakya Lama that visited Spain. In 1993 H.E. Jetsun Kushog first visited Spain, and made clear the need to invite H.H..Sakya Trizin. In order to prepare His visit, Lama Jamyang Leckshey in the summer of 1996. founded Sakya Drogön Ling under the spiritual guidence of H.H. Sakya Trizin.

In October1996, His Holiness Sakya Trizin came to Spain for the first time and gave His blessings to the project of Sakya Drogön Ling, and accepted our petition to become the spiritual guide of the center.

Since then, we have received many venerable visits from high lamas like
H.E. Jetsun Kushog, H.E. Luding Khen, Lama Sherab Amipa, Lama Gendun, Lama Jamyang Lekshey and Lama Tubten Nyima.

Just like Lama Lekshey has made clear on various occasions, the main aim of the center is to benefit the people that come here, and help them be happier, and that is what our goal is.

 

We are happy to be able to contribute to the preservation, diffusion and practice of the vast and precious Sakyapa teachings, in the most genuine and faithful manner. We are aware of the importance, just like H.H. Sakya Trizin has reminded us, of the fact that the Four Schools of Vajrayana buddhism are sharing a common ground in Spain.
